The HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is print, scan, copy, and fax with a color screen and ADF. Windows’ basic driver will print and then scan fails. You want the Full Feature / Full Software package from support.hp.com for “OfficeJet Pro 8710”, not a LaserJet UPD.
Easy Start and first WiFi
- Finish Wireless Setup on the printer (2.4 GHz) until the icon is solid
- If Easy Start cannot see it, add by IP from the network page — Easy Start cannot find printer
- Invalid password: invalid WPA passphrase

Scan and fax need the full driver
If you only used “Add a printer” in Windows, scan to computer and HP Scan will be missing. Uninstall the basic queue, install Full Feature, then re-add. On Mac, HP Easy Start / HP Smart plus the 8710 driver — AirPrint prints but scan is limited.
Printheads and ink
8710 uses HP 952 / 952XL. Streaks after sitting: clean from the Tools menu, not five deep cleans in a row. Carriage or “maintenance in progress” that never ends: maintenance in progress.
ADF and jams
Scan jams live in the ADF lid, print jams in the rear access. Paper jam fix. Nothing coming out: not printing.
