HP Envy Photo 7855 — HP Smart and Photo Tray Setup

The HP Envy Photo 7855 is a photo inkjet (print, scan, copy) with a photo tray and memory-card slot. Use HP Smart or the Envy 7855 software from support.hp.com. A LaserJet Universal driver will not work.

WiFi with HP Smart

2.4 GHz only during setup. Split dual-band SSIDs if needed
Put the printer in setup mode (wireless blink), then open HP Smart on the same network
If Smart never finds it: panel wireless wizard, then add by IP — cannot find printer
Passphrase errors: invalid WPA passphrase

General wireless: HP WiFi not connecting.

USB when wireless will not hold

Data cable, not charge-only. Install HP Smart anyway so scan from the glass still works.

Photo tray vs main tray

Photo paper in the photo tray, plain paper in the main tray, and match that in the driver. Wrong tray looks like a “driver failure.” Ink: check the label in the cartridge door (often HP 64 / 64XL in North America).

First-run maintenance

First ink charge can sit on maintenance in progress for several minutes. Do not unplug. Blank output after that: blank pages.

What should I do if my printer keeps jamming paper?

If your printer keeps jamming, first turn off and unplug the printer. Gently remove any stuck paper (pull in the direction of paper flow, never force it). Check for torn pieces of paper, clean the paper path with a lint-free cloth, ensure you're using the correct paper type and size, don't overload the paper tray, and make sure the paper guides are properly adjusted. If jams persist, there may be a mechanical issue requiring professional repair.
