HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227 — fdw, fdn, sdn, sdw Setup

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw, M227fdn, M227sdn, and M227sdw share an engine. Suffix is the difference. Older model-specific URLs redirect here.

  • fdw — fax, duplex, WiFi + Ethernet
  • fdn — fax, duplex, Ethernet (no WiFi)
  • sdn — scan/copy, duplex, Ethernet (no fax, no WiFi)
  • sdw — scan/copy, duplex, WiFi (no fax)

Do not run a wireless wizard on fdn/sdn. Use Ethernet and auto crossover if the link light is off.

Driver

Full Feature M227 package or HP UPD from support.hp.com. Windows 11 basic driver skips scan. Add wireless models by IP after you print a config page. Discovery failures: Easy Start cannot find printer.

WiFi (fdw / sdw only)

2.4 GHz, WPA2. Invalid WPA and WiFi not connecting.

Scan and fax

Scan needs the full software. Fax is fdw/fdn only — line cord in the correct jack. ADF jams: paper jam. Tray not feeding: pick motor stalled.

Toner is HP 30A / 30X. Hub: HP printer help.
